Robert‘s Plan

Creating Jobs
Attracting new businesses and employers to Palm Beach County is essential to continued economic growth. On the Palm Beach County Commission, I will do everything in my power to bring and maintain high-paying jobs. For me, this is personal. I don’t want my children to have to re-locate in order to find work. I want them to build their careers and their lives here at home.

Fully Funding Public Schools
With traditional public schools under attack in Tallahassee, it is now more important than ever that we act on the county-level to support students and teachers. If the legislature fails to adequately fund education, I will find additional dollars to ensure our county’s public schools have the resources they need to be the best in the state. I will also support funding for popular extracurricular activities and after-school programs.

Protecting Our Beaches and the Environment

We are blessed to live in a beautiful, tropical paradise. As a county commissioner, I will make conservation and beach re-nourishment two of my top priorities.
I pledge to be a conscientious steward of the environment in order to protect it for future generations.

Preparing for Sea-Level Rise

Palm Beach County should be a global leader on the issue of climate change and that starts with acknowledging the threat of sea-level rise. Even our inland communities are very low-lying. The risks to property and life itself are enormous. That’s why I will direct county dollars toward green investments, push to add solar panels to county-owned properties, and continue my support of public transportation.

Fighting for Sensible Gun Safety Measures

As your next Palm Beach County Commissioner, I will work to institute sensible reforms to prevent gun violence. I will work with the Palm Beach County legislative delegation to overturn preemption laws. Once those laws have been overturned, I will lead the charge on banning the sale and possession of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in our county. I will also ensure that background checks are completed for ALL gun sales and close the “gun show loophole”. I will work with the School Board to make our schools safer and keep guns out. I will champion the funding of mental health programs to address the root cause of many of our social issues including gun violence and opioid abuse. These commonsense reforms are key to making our communities safer for everyone – especially our kids.

Tackling the Opioid Epidemic

The opioid epidemic is an issue we must face head on. As a county commissioner, I will work across government to ensure law enforcement and first responders have what they need to effectively respond to the crisis; single out and go after bad actors in the rehabilitation industry; expand the availability of Naloxone; and improve access to mental health care. In South Florida, we are on the frontlines of this epidemic and it is up to us to stop it.

Ensuring Transparency in Government

On the Palm Beach County Commission, I will always conduct the business of our residents in an ethical and transparent manner. To be fully transparent, neither I nor my spouse will accept outside sources of income from developers, lobbyists, or people doing business with the county. My office will always be responsive to and open with the public as well as the media.
